The pilot in the front seat sits up a little too high for the canopy to be closed. He will have the be shaved down a little bit so he sits lower. The Orange flight suits look good though , I think.

Pilots look great, my friend @ssgt! No harm done if you shave some of the front seater' bottoms off 🙂

You are right, Jay (@ssgt), the orange flight suits will really stand out. A little bottom shaving won't hurt your pilot at all.

I’ll be doing some surgery on that guy, @fiveten & @gblair , this morning before I head off to work.

    A perfect choice.
No one will notice the surgery you will do to get that pilot in.

Hello John @johnb ... I tried to be as discrete with the pilots surgery as as possible, I sanded his seat down quite a bit and also removed his feet. He now fits in his office quite nicely. Model Master clear flat was painted over the orange jump suits.

This is the original kit decals that were in the box. You can see they are in less then ideal condition.

I found this set of Monogram decals for the same kit. They look in good condition, if they don’t work out I’ll have to go to plan C.

"Fit into that cockpit or I will cut your feet" seems to have been said to that pilot, my friend @ssgt! 😄
Glad you found a good set of decals!

He put up a good fight , Spiros @fiveten , but in the end he followed orders.

The replacement decals look as if they’ll be useable , at least that’s my hope.

The pilots look great and do fit nicely this way, Jay @ssgt
Original decals are history, the new set looks way better.

@ssgt, Jay, the last few models I've managed to complete all had old decals that included many that I wanted to use. I even managed to buy another old set of Monogram decals off Ebay here and there for those kits. And in all cases, I found they were quite usable when soaked in very hot water, and then left to disengage on paper towel for a long time too, with frequent "refreshing" of the hot water with a small brush. I had an electric hot-plate, with a small stew pan of water, on my table for the decal sessions. The water was just below a simmer in temperature, quite hot really. Anyway, in some circumstances, that method might help.

I'm glad the pilots pulled through! 👍 Modern medicine-ain't it sumthin'?!?! 😆

John @johnb, those pilots fit like they were made to go in there now, the one guy just needed a little encouragement . I feel fortunate to have found those Monogram replacement decals... after market decals are so expensive now-a-days, like almost everything else.

I’ll try using hotter water and more time with these decals , Gary @garybrantley .

I’m glad the pilot was able to be made to fit. I hated cutting his feet off, but it seemed to help him sit with better posture in the pilot’s seat.

The 105 is masked off and ready for some Olive Drab paint to be sprayed on it.

The instructions call for OD stripes on the fuselage and wings.. I had planned to mask off and paint the stripes on the fuselage before I attached the wings , but I spaced it out. Now I think it’d be too difficult to apply those. I’m debating painting the wing stripes or leave them off. I looked online for photos of F-105s from the 36 TFW ( or any other F-105s) with these stripes ... I didn’t find any . I’m not a stickler for 100% authenticity, but I’m not one to put paisleys on it either. As long as it looks like a typical Thunderchief I’m happy. The stripes look sporty.. but I’m still having an internal debate.

It is safe to assume that the stripes were applied from a point onward, so either way the scheme will be "correct", my friend @ssgt! Your call.
