George @gblair... I think Stillwater is one of the nicest towns in Oklahoma.

Thanks for your military service in the AF...
I’m sure Oklahoma wasn’t on too many peoples “dream sheets” in the Air Force.

    Thank you Spiros @fiveten & John @johnb !
I’m glad the decals didn’t have any problems. I’d like to get this one done before the end of the year ... I just need to do some paint touch up and decided about installing the centerline fuel tank on it or not .

    Great result, Jay @ssgt
With or without the centreline fuel tank the outcome will be beautiful.
Both ways have their own looks.

Your 105 came out great, Jay (@ssgt). You usually see this model in Vietnam camo, so seeing a natural metal 105 is very cool and distinctive. The cloud background makes for a very nice photo. Well done.

Great looking Thud Jay! Been hooked on the F-105 since I read “Thud Ridge” in the way back when.
Saw Thuds in 2 firepower demonstrations in 77 & 81.
Again she’s a real beauty Jay.
    Happy Holidays

Thanks Rick @fuzzmann, George @gblair, John @johnb, and Spiros @fiveten ! I appreciate your kind words and encouragement !

That must have been a great sight, Rick, to see those F-105 demonstrations . I once was at the gunnery range in Arizona when F-16s were shooting at ground targets. That sound is really impressive... that was over 30 years ago and I can still recall it.

    Merry Christmas, Friends !

I’ve touched up the paint, and I am going to call this one done.
The centerline tank isn’t on it, but I might add it later. I’m happy I added enough weight to keep it on it’s nose wheel.

It doesn't seem to have been that long since I have last checked in on your progress. Man you are really working fast ! It looks great too. I have never seen another 105 painted in overall Silver like yours is. It looks very nice that way too I should add.

I have never seen a Thundercheif make a firing pass, but I have witnessed an A-10 hosing down tanks. That's a very impressive sight, and so is the noise it makes. It sounds like someone is running a chain saw at wide open throttle off in a distance. The sight of the tracers is also incredible... It looks like someone has a big water hose and it's spraying out a stream of red phosphorus out of it.

There's several rounds placed in between the tracers, but it looks like a solid stream. I know that we had 4 rounds in between our tracers on a M-2 "Ma Deuce", and other 7.62 MG's. With the A-10, you can't tell where one tracer stops and another one starts. I'm glad these "Hog Driver's" were on our side. They were a good friend to have available, especially when you are riding in a tank too...

I think it looks good as is without the center drop tank. If you needed more nose weight, you could hide it in there and add it later on if you think it might be necessary. I have one or two jets in my display case that kind of "teeter totter" back and forth, on the verge of being a tail sitter. One slight jar, or a puff of air is all it takes to make the nose go up and the tail down on these.

Yours is very impressive. Good call with the orange flight suits. I think it's close to showing up in the headlines section now..

Hi Louis @lgardner.. thanks for the compliments. F-105s look nice in any paint scheme , but the painted silver ones are my favorite .

I was wanting to finish this before the end of the year. A friend has asked me to build two kits someone gave him, so I’m going to start those after the first of the year.

The A-10 is one of the most impressive airplanes in the Air Force., I think. Although I never had any hands on experience with them , only admired them from a far. I consorted with A-7s & F-16s.

I put plenty of lead weights in the 105’s nose so it sits on its nose gear. I will probably leave that center tank off.

    You delivered a beautiful 105, Jay @ssgt
Without the fuel tank the dynamic shape of this aircraft are even more dominant.
    A perfect finish of 2022.
