After some discussion with my colleagues, I decided to put guns on the almost done Skyhawk...

Yeah, I was not happy, because I worried about all the work I have done till now. First, I cut brass tubes accordingly to original plastic guns in the kit. I let some of them a bit longer, because I planned to slide them over each other.

I used sizes 0,7-0,9 + 0,9-1,1 + 1,1-1,3 mm. The most difficult was drilling small holes on coolers. I have never tried to scratchuild such tiny parts, so it was real challenge. However, looking back at that, it was quite easy.

Finally I drilled holes into leading edge of wing roots. This was the most dangerous moment of this operation. I used 3 sizes of drills and a needle file at the end for fine tuning.

Well, I think new guns, which were not planned from the start, look excellent and I am happy that my colleagues supported me in this.

I started with ordnance yesterday. I finished late tonight, therefor I did not take any photo after I finished.
    The ordnance planned - 1 central fuel tank, 2 MER racks with 10 Mk82 Snakeye, 2 LAU-10.

I was able to make just preshading with black, alu color (mix of Duralaluminium+Chrome - Alclad II)on front part of LAU, then white (Gunze C) and bombs are painted - 1st layer Olive Drab, 2nd layer Field Green+White+Buff (a bit transparent and not covering whole surface, bombs should get worn look). For bombs I used excellent Tamiya colors. I will take some more photos today.

Well, here is the result of work done so far.
I only applied glossy varnish and decals yesterday, I had just a short time to do it.
Next steps will be - using soft pastels to add some worn effects and also to paint some nice graphic or to write kind message on them as it was common in every war. πŸ™‚ This will be challenging job in this scale.

Martin on your VA-153 a-4e what color blue did you use? I’m doing VA-153 on my 1/32 scooter and I can’t find a color reference

I used Gunze C 323, but honestly real shade should be more bright, so you must mix it with white anyway. My shade is not correct, I would say.
