Sorry to hear that you had a mishap with the decals and the canopy, my friend @lis.
Looking forward to see your remedial actions, in modeling nothing is unfixable!

I am also sorry that you have had these problems, @lis. It drives me crazy to get to the last part of a build and have problems. I was wondering if you had sealed the decals with clear paint?

Yes. I used two coats of clear X-35. Techmod decals are too fragile in my opinion. Canopy was fit as good as possible. I don't find any vacoo canopy malcom hood type. I Wonder about Academy kit of P-51B. Mabye I need to do it too?

While waiting for the package with the ordered accessories, he analyzes the new decals on the Mustang P-51 K. The fun is finding a model that mirrors the original made in Dallas, with an areoprop propeller and a Dallas windshield. after a long analysis it turns out that the Hasegawa set is quite close to orignal. It has two sets of propeller blades and a fairing from the Dallas factory (Airfix had two canopies too, but I dont find any good drawing or photo to check shape. Tamiya also had Dallas canopy, but only Hasegawa had Areoprop propeller). However, I did not find any kit that mirrored the louvers for the engine air outlet, which in the D version was a distinctive strainer at the bottom of the engine casing on each side.

The most difficult part of kitbashing is the wait. Hope the replacements arrive at your doorstep soon. Great work on the kit so far - looking forward to the last few steps.

Welcome. After a short break, waiting for my package, I go back to work. The fuel tanks are now ready to be hung under the wings. The new squadron markings are also applied and painted coat of X-35 clear. I had to replace both because this decal sheet did not have a black border around the emblem. And it was a positive thing because the original, according to my analysis of the photos, did not have it. Note some exfoliation of the weathering at the coat of arms. I wonder whether to correct it? Or leave it? What do you think? Also I made flexible antenna made of flexible cable for antenna cables impregnated with CA glue. Canopy was weathered by Oil Wash too.

    Great steps, Lis @lis
Don't correct it, to me it looks fine.
The antenna looks perfect, I was not even aware that this version was fitted with a flexible antenna.

My dear friends, today the work on my Mustang mk. III was finished. I made some smoke on exhaust, and add mirror on canopy. Also light clear coat was done. I need to cool down a bit and write an article the day after tomorrow. The model came out quite decently, I think, despite a few crises. the works were extended by 5 days because the original plan was to finish the works in September. I hope you like the model. I put a lot of work into it, probably even more than in the Spitfire. The model has its strengths, but there are also many disadvantages. Today some photos at sunset. Main Photo session soon. Today I am reading a book in the evening 😉

The Mustang came out wonderful, my friend @lis!
You did a truly excellent job, with the result easily looking great for at least 1/48.
    Congratulations and happy reading tonight!

I never put a deadline, just build until you are satisfied with the result.

That's a fine looking Mustang, especially given the scale. It was a pleasure to follow along! 🙂

Your Mustang is spectacular, @lis. I think you should be pleased with the outcome, especially the natural metal finish.

Thank you for your kind word! I have question. What do you know about Olive Drab? What shade is correct for planes? In market there are many paints called Olive Drab. I used C304 Mr Hobby. But was it correct?
