@pb_legend @gblair @fiveten @johnb yesterday night I was painted some details. I am curious about the color of the discarded fuel tanks? I'm curious about the color of the discarded fuel tanks. Maybe you have any suggestions? I thought to paint them with a different shade of aluminum. Maybe matt aluminum?

    Hi my friend @lis!
I am aware that some tanks were made from impregnated paper. If so, even painting them with the aluminum paint would result being matt. If this is the case here, then a matt aluminum shade would just look right.
    Nice progress on those details!

Hi, @lis. I think these drop tanks were generally left unpainted. I have seem some that were painted to match the color of the plane, but I think that as the war progressed they probably left them unpainted. I dug around the internet and found some photos of British Mustangs with tanks, and they look unpainted. So, aluminum would be good, even for the "paper" tanks. Model is looking good.

@lis, to supplement George's post, here is a color photo (courtesy of Google/Pintrest). They look to be a matte aluminum lacquer of sorts. Selecting a brighter, less metallic aluminum shade such as "White Alumunum" would probably be my choice. However, some photos appear to show a more natural unfinished color, so the choice is up to your interpretation.

@gblair Kit had this first one metal 75 Gallon drop tank. So if unpaindet I use standard Super Silver II.

@pb_legend Thank you for photo! Very interesting. Compared to the fuselage the color of jrst is quite similar, so you probably need to use the same paint as the fuselage

@lis, I think you are ok by following the above recommendations.
Using the same color as the fuselage should be fine as you suggested.
