Engine looks great, Cricket (@bikequeen). I just used the AK Xtreme metals for the first time on my current model and really like them. The paints seem to be bullet-proof.

@gblair thank you George I found the the paint remains somewhat tacky even after a substantial drying time but it doesn’t fingerprint so I’m okay with that…where is your recent project? I get zero notifications of anything :/

Hi Cricket (@bikequeen): It has been very humid here in Central Texas (85% or higher), so I have been letting the AK paint dry for 24 hours. Seems to work OK. I have two F-86s going in the F-86/FJ Fury Group. Cheers.

@gblair it’s been pretty dry here but still the AK remains a bit tacky, not the first time I experienced this. But once again it doesn’t fingerprint so I’m okay with it :). Nice Saber 🙂

Hi, Cricket (@bikequeen). Interesting. I haven't had any problems with the AK remaining tacky. This is my first real natural metal finish, so I got a box of rubber gloves from Amazon and have been using them when I handle the plane. It may be overkill, but I didn't want to worry about fingerprints.

There are no fingerprints on mine, I can’t explain it such a slight stickiness to it. But like i said it’s perfect for me and it’s been 3 days since I painted it :). I’m not complaining…just observing 🙂

Excellent work done on this engine, Cricket @bikequeen
Lots of details which are clearly visible. I do hope it is still visible once the build is done.

Porsche 935 Martini Turbo engine 1/12th scale

Here is the competed engine! Almost hate to put it in the car. Took 4 days to build which may sound fast to a lot of people but for me it was slow, about 8 to 12 hours each day.

The block is AK Steel the transmission is AK Duraluminum.

I painted the turbo charger piping with Tamiya gloss black with a top coat of Tamiya Metallic Silver. The center connecting tube is Tamiya French Blue with aluminum tape hose clamps.

The fuel injectors were supposed to be black wires, instead I used Top Studio translucent tubing. I also added Top Studio connectors for the tubing. Drilled, primed and painted gold. Insert red wires for the tubing to attach. Clipped to the same length

I’m super happy how this turned out! It was a kit in itself. I got a lot of the ideas for this engine from a YouTube video.

And lastly here is my new baby 😉

. I hope you enjoy viewing as much as I did building it 😉

Also are 3 pics of the same engine that I built 2 years ago. You can see how my skills have evolved in 2 short years.

Such amazing work on that engine. Very realistic! In my opinion, you have achieved the skills of a "Master Modeler". You should be very proud of your accomplishments.

@jdtruby Thank you John. I wouldn’t classify myself as a master just yet…another couple years maybe :). But i am pretty pumped about this engine!

You’ve certainly picked up a few new techniques and used them to great effect with this engine, Cricket @bikequeen, looking forward to seeing it installed in the car.
