1/48 AMT Tigercat F7F-3N

November 26, 2012 · in Aviation · · 4 · 1.8K

Hi again- sorry for the multiple posts tonight- I only have now to do these.

I took the , converted it using the HiTech resin parts, Obscureco props (the kit ones are, well.. backwards), and Squadron canopies, and finally metal Cutting Edge landing gear. I copied the kit wheels, making resin replacements- the kit ones in vinyl are notorious for melting plastic. I think they look infinitely better than the other replacement wheels out there. My most happy time of this build was spraying the exhaust stains after doing the GSB finish. Of course I look like a copycat posting mine after the other F7F-3N on here!

  1. Nice kitty! I have had the pleasure of petting a real one at Paine Field in Everett, in Washington State. Very cool. That one is called Bad Kitty, and sounds wonderful! Excellent model!

    • i would LOVE to hear one of these in the air! not to mention watch it beatn up the feild.
I got a chance to see a P-51 do low level passes for the first time ever two years ago at cecil feild- that was pretty amazing.

  2. Very nice model, I know what you went through to get to this final product, so you're commended for all that effort.

    • Tom, I am honored! Been following your work for quite some time on the other site... not sure I can mention it here!
In any case, i am bummed I have not been able to get some optimum lighting to do a good job on these kits I have been posting! Just trying my best for the P-51 of course! However, the ease at which I can post pics here is amazing!
