Hasegawa/Aires 1/32nd Messerschmitt Bf109F-2

December 30, 2012 · in Aviation · · 4 · 1.6K

The Aires set requires a bit of careful measuring and test-fitting, corrections to the propeller blade tips, tailwheel, and supercharger intake. The oversized tailwheel was sawn from the yoke and replaced with a thinned G-6 tailwheel, the blades of the tips blunted and the shape of the supercharger intake straightened with sanding sticks. However, the cockpit and exhausts are quite good and were installed straight from the box. Ducts for the boundary layer air (passing over the tops of the radiators) were added to the upper radiator flaps from .015 Evergreen stock. Paints used were Floquil RLM02/74/75/76, RLM04 Gelbe, and Engine Black; decals from Eagle Strike and Aeromaster.

This model represents a machine flown by Oblt. Heinrich Sannemann, Staffelkapitaen of 6./JG-3 while based at Monchy-Breton in the Spring of 1941- just prior to shifting eastward for Operation Barbarossa. Sannemann was credited with 23 victories and survived the war.

  2. Ehhh, another boring Whipple Model. Done to the same standard of totally complete excellence as all the others.

  3. Clean, mean machine!
