1/48 Classic Airframes Northrop F-5A

January 10, 2013 · in Aviation · · 4 · 3.2K

And here is the last part of my NMF TuAF jets Trilogy. This is F-5A finished few years ago with Turkish Air Force markings. This ex-Norvegian (5-575) was in use between mid of eighties and nineties by 5th AFB at Merzifon-Turkey .

The construction started with cockpit . The resin components are painted to “aircraft grey” with Gunze Sangyo acrylics. The seat belts are from my spare box. Gunsight is scratctbuilt.
Natural metal Painting was done with Alclad lacquers as usual.
I had some problem during installation of windscreen. Fitting is not good. It needs some filling. Similar problems exist on the wing roots and wing tanks. Main wheel well covers are handmade from plastic card. Because these parts from the box are “Thick as a brick “
Finally I replaced the pitot tube and glued opened canopy part.

Happy Modelling

  1. Tolga... Nice Natural Metal Finish "Hat Trick", great looking model with another good looking metal finish.

  2. Very nice job on the NMF, Tolga...good work.

  3. Again, a superb, realistic metal finish.

  4. Beautiful build, Tolga. This is my favorite modern jet - only wish we had sent reconditioned series versions to Ukraine so they could have gotten aerial protection much sooner! Even though there are better kits available today, you've done a great job of improving this CA kit to make it as detialed and even more so in some areas. Congratulations on completing this outstanding build!
