Practice, practice, practice! This kit was used as practice for air brushing. the fit was terrible! The decals for low vis versions were 3 different shades! The only good thing about it was the decently detailed landing gear. Considered sanding and rescribing raised panel lines, but decided to forego all the effort, after all it was purchased for 12 bucks just for practice for the , ,or hobbyboss kits. Heard the hobbyboss kit is really givin the hasie a run for its money. Plus it comes with loads of weapons stores where as the hasie kit has none. Still need to finish the turkey feathers, which arent too bad either, and do some finishing work. let me know whatcha think. Also as with all the models i build vallejo, , and model master paints were used. thanx for your comments.

  1. Very nice, not over the top like so many paint jobs on lo vis modern Navy schemes. Just the right amount of dirty and mismatched paint!

  2. Very cool top photo!

  3. It looks great Jeff! I've had this kit in the stash since the late 80s and can never bring myself to attempt it. Did you consider using the swing wing feature at all? I'd say you've done a fine job on this old kit. Might inspire me to take a whack at mine too!

    • the swing wing tolerences are so tight that when you move them in and out you just scratch your paintwork. i would suggest you place some spacers inside the body of the aircraft, where the wings slide inside, to open the gap a bit. just gonna leave mine in the closed position, you live and learn right.

  4. Them Navy birds never could stay clean for long...nice work on the 'Cat.

  5. Wow Jeff - if thats your practice kit I can't wait to see the one you were practicing for - very nice work.
