1/48 Hasegawa Spitfire Mk.IXe TuAF
This is 1/48 Hasegawa Spitfire Mk IXe finished -several years ago- with the markings of the Turkish Air Force (TuaF).
After WWII, between January 1947 and February 1948, TuAF received 170 Spitfire Mk.IX ans used them up to the beginning of 1952.
Base kit was Hasegawa Spitfire Mk IXc (though its problem on the fuselage lenght). It needs to use Ultracast “Cannon bay covers” to convert the kit from “C” wing to “E” wing.
The cockpit was built mostly out of the box except for Eduard seatbelts and instrument panel.
Other modificatios were:
Ultracast / Late style Control surfaces
Ultracast / Spitfire Mk9 Flared exhaust
Ultracast / Spitfire pilot access door
Cutting Edge / British GM-2 Gunsight
Painting was done with Alclad lacquers. The flags on the tail and the national insignias on the fuselage were from Turquoise decals. The large size national insignias on the wings were painted. The code numbers were from spare box.
Happy modelling

Another beauty...I like the weathered anti-glare panel. Nice light touch on the weathering...very clean build.

When this kit was first released, there were quite a few naysayers going on about shape and dimension inaccuracies, but I purchased one anyway (along with an Occidental Mk.IX). You know what? I cannot see anything thing wrong with your Spitfire. As a matter of fact, I think yours is another contender for this months imodeler award. Nicely done.

Hello Tolga - I am new to iModeler and wanted to say the plane looks fantastic. I was looking over your archive of articles and you have a collection of great builds. As I am getting active in the hobby in midlife, I will use your pictures as inspiration.

Hi Tolga,
Beautiful finish & a different colour scheme to a very good kit build. You've done it proud. Very nice weathering on the cowling too.
