Alan Wolfson – Master of Diorama Building
What's that giant quarter doing in the New York subway station? Actually, the entire scene is a diorama, or "miniature urban sculpture" created by Alan Wolfson.
Alan Wolfson specializes in modeling urban environments. Complete with complex interior views and lighting effects, a major work can take several months to complete, but his results are spectacular. Meet Alan in this video clip:

What a brilliant craftsman...quite interesting "auto"-biography. Thanks.
This man is a true master. absolutely beautiful work.
amazing talent...talk about playing by ear
Plenty of bang for the buck.
Not sure how he scales it (read through pages of Q&As but may have missed it). It's like a hyper version of architectural modelling. Fascinating to see the camera angles as walk-throughs.
Note to Alan: larger font, please! Great to view images in different resolutions but I found the text hard work after a while.
Fantastic craftmanship!
Congrats,
Jamme
Absolutely stunning. Words fail to describe it.
It's all about the lighting and the planning of the photo "shot". I've viewed some mundane models but photographed in such a manner they appeared to be prototypical in every respect. This is wonderful work, thanks for posting it!
A completely different art form, beautifully done.
