1/72 scale Hasegawa B-25J

Represent B-25J, 5th AF 498th BS

I always wanted to build one of Col. Kenney Air Apaches. The kit was perfect. It was fun to build, with the only big challenge was to get enough weight in the nose.

For the weight I took the gage panel and sunk it into a small cup of plaster, creating a mold. I waited until the plaster was about half dry and pushed the panel about an 1/8 inch down. I then poured some molten lead forming a weight. This of course was not enough, so I made another weight for inside the nose wheel compartment. This did the trick just enough.

For a reference, a good friend of mine lent me his book, Warpath Across the Pacific (A fantastic book /lots of pictures).

028 was an actual airplane with the 498th, however the art work was my own creation. From what I could tell, this aircraft did survived the war.

If your counting that's 11 of the 15 guns that can be aimed out the front.

Sounds like something right out of Apocalypse Now.

    • Thanks Craig. I have to admit this is one of my favorite models in my stash. If my house caught fire, this is one I'd probably grab. I got some photo tips from a friend, so I hope this is an improvement..
