My first Armor model
I have only built planes up to this point in my modeling hobby. I love the WWII stuff so I decided to venture into Armor. I did lots of reading and research online and decided to build and paint Tamiya's 1/35 SDKFZ 251 Hanomag. It came out rather well. I always paint by hand with a brush. I used Model Master Enamel Paints, Vallejo washes, and MIG pigments to get the mud effect. I love that Tamiya AFV Kits come with figures.
Ahhh, a lovely little walk down memory lane. I remember that kit quite well. A 1970s vintage Tamiya kit which still holds up against the newer kits. You did her justice, John. Well done.
Thanks Shamus, it was a joy to build and paint.
Nice work John, I like the weathering, looks good.
Well done sir.
Very nice job for a first time "target"...especially well-done figures (my nemesis).
I love doing the figures. The 1/35 armor guys and much easier than the 1/48 pilots that I do for the planes.
Nice job brush painting! I have the same kit on the shelf that a friend was clearing out. One day!
Thank you Simon.
Thanks Alan
Great job, I had no idea such kits come with figures (I'm into aviation modelling) - this would be awesome with a small diorama. Put this on some piece of ply covered with grass etc. and this will be amazing... well it's amazing anyway.
I agree Lukasz, a small diorama would be great.
Your aircraft modelling experience has obviously helped you with this, very nice finish and weathering.
John,
Another nice job.
