P-47D Tamiya 1/72 scale
What can I say, I like P-47s, and I love the Tamiya kit, it is simply an absolute jewel of a kit.
This particular aircraft represents one flew by Lt. Chuck Olmsted of the 353rd FS / 354th FG.
Painting was done with Alclad duraluminum, Aluminum,Model Master Metalizers and Enamels. Decals are from Lifelike decals. The following details were added:
Drilled out gun barrels. (yes, I know I'm going to go blind doing this).
Eduard photo etch seatbelts..
Center drop tank fuel lines added from small gauge wire.
Sway bar braces were built for the bomb racks.
Inside corner of wing lights drilled and filled with appropriate color.
----and I only handle it wearing gloves -----
Even though I primarily build in 1/48 scale, I have to admit this is one of my favorite models on my shelf. I hope you enjoy it.
Great build and even greater finish. I thought it was 1/48 till i re-read your posting. Well done.
Its always nice to hear the "I thought it was 1/48 scale", comment. Thanks GDSC
Nice T bolt
Your love of the P-47 shows……very nice build Terry and excellent photos as well.
Thanks Jack, I admit, photos are not my strong point, I worked pretty hard (and got some good tips from a friend). Its good to hear I'm on the right track.
I agree with Jack...really nice finish (in any scale) and equally nice pics.
Excellent work for such a small scale. Photos are great too!
Fantastic, and in 1/72 scale! Excellent work, your enthusiasm nearly makes me want to get one.
Thanks George. Go get one !, I can't recommend this kit enough.
Super finish - great work Terry - I think I'll just dig mine out of the pile...
I'm prejudiced to 1/72, but I love this build! I built this same scheme as a kid and I think it's still one of my favorite T-bolts. Beautiful work on the detailing and painting. Very nice, Terry!
Hello Terry...Very fine work on that P-47 and as others have said, even more remarkable that you did it in 1/72nd scale. Not only a nicely done model but good photography too...very well done.
Jim, Thanks for the nice comments. This was one of those models were everything seemed to go right, in other words, I didn't mess with it too much during the build.
Very nice!
Flawless and perfect, showing the potential of 1/72 scale kits, done by a talented modeller !
I really like this painting, i hesitate to begin such metal look for models; friends tell me to use Alclad, other Tamya metallic colours. Your Alclad's airbrushing is perfect, anyway.
Thank you for sharing this beautidful realzation Terry.
