1/72 Airfix + 3D Kits Spitfire MKII LR
Just finished my Airfix 1/72 Spitfire MK II LR. Used the new tool Airfix kit with the 3D Kits conversion kit which provides the extra wing mounted fuel tank and markings for Spitfire P8448 "Counterattack" of 152 Squadron. Added Eduard fabric belts, SBS resin exhaust, a resin nav light on the fuselage spine. The IFF "Cookie Cutter" antenna really tested my patience but finally got them on. Rigged with Uschi Superfine rigging thread and it is really fine but looks to scale in 1/72. Painted with Mr Color paints.
Good to see you posting again, Geoff. That Spit is simply beautiful (especially in 72nd scale). The photography is sharp, clear and nicely done. Great work all around my friend. Stunning workmanship throughout. Presentation the way it SHOULD be. A "headliner" that's easy on the eyes! ๐
Nice work.
Seems like every week we get at least a few spits posted, but I never get tired of it. Nice work here Geoffrey I've never seen that extra wing tank.
Nice MkIILR Spitfire .
very nice
Great looking spit, and THANKS A MILLION for the tip on the Uschi superfine thread - I'd never heard of it until today but already ordered some, as I only build 1/72 scale. Although I've had decent success with nylon thread (and have seen folks discuss using .02 fishing line), I'd really hoped to eventually find a product for 72 scale that had some stretch to it, similar to the ez-line product.
Great looking conversion. And for this scale impressive.
Nice modeling Geoffrey!

๐ ... Greetings ... ๐ :
Those AIRFIX kits are looking way better than the ones way before.
That SITFIRE says it all, very nice clean work, and for that scale ... very impressive, very nice modeling.
1/72 scale seems to be making a bit of a return, at least on this site, is it down to these re-tooled Airfix kits? Anyway, lovely looking Spitfire, Geoffrey. Like Craig said above, exactly right.
Superb build ! These Airfix kits can be done into little gems, well done.
