VF-0S from Macross Zero, 1/72 Hasegawa #15
This went as a birthday gift to a dear friend who’s addicted to Macross.
Display stand is Trumpeter’s, the sticker is cut from the kit’s box and stuck via double sided tape.
Enjoy.

OK….I give up – what IS that? And what is “Macross”..? How about a little background for the uninitiated…LOL

Craig hello. Macross Zero is a Japanese anime based on Macross series, you might know it as Robotech in the USA.
It’s basically aircraft transforming into robots, referred to as mecha in general.
Don’t confuse it with Transformers tho, Macross is a bit more oriented towards the adults (there is no nudity etc.) than kids.
The vehicle designs in the show has their roots from the real life counterparts, i guess you can spot these in this VF-0.
This is as simple as i can explain, it’s been going on with numerous iterations for some 30 odd years afterall.

Guess I’m “outta the loop” at 70 years old, huh…? It kinda looks like an F-14/15/18 morphed on steroids. 🙂

Don’t know what “Macross” is, but it’s a pretty cool looking machine! As a model, it is very nicely done – nice finish and weathering.

Thank you Greg, just wrote an abstract about the show above to Craig.

So it’s an actual Hasegawa kit and not a “what-if”…?
Rob Pollock said on August 16, 2016
Craig, I love the fact that you just keep trying to get your head around it 😜
Murad Özer said on August 17, 2016
yup it’s an actual kit of a subject from an anime series.

Nice work on that VF-OS, for some reason I am reminded of Star Blazers

Dude, i LOVE Macross! I havent seen Macross Zero yet, but Robotech was my favorite show as a kid, and I watched the three storylines with my son and now he is a fan as well. Your model looks awesome. I love the weathering!
Murad Özer said on August 17, 2016
Ramon unfortunately past Zero the series went downhill for me, it turned into a kids fashion show with musicals and costumes and what not pretty in line with today’s Japanese anime themes.
If you want to get back into the flow i’d suggest watch Plus first then Zero. If you are brave enough try the Frontier too since it’s more or less Saga/Robotech modernized.
