Thank you, iModeler – July Award
I’m a little late in posting this, as the kit arrived last month, but I wanted to thank iModeler for the wonderful kit and having my work as July’s Best in Show.
I thought I’d do a quick review of the kit too. The figure is a pirate captain from the 1700’s. The kit is produced by Pegaso Models, one of the best producers of display figures in my humble opinion. They have a great range of subjects and the sculpts are almost always top notch. This kit is 75mm (1/24th scale). The figure comes in the traditional Pegaso box with the pieces sandwiched between two layers of foam. The smaller parts are also placed within a plastic bag to keep them save. Under the bottom layer of foam are the larger pieces which make up the scenery that comes with the kit. Also, not pictured, is a sheet of paper giving a brief historical background on the subject and information on color options.
The figure is made up of 12 pieces and another 4 for the base. The pieces fit together well and will need only a small amount of clean up before assembling. The bandanna covering his head is fully sculpted, so you have the option to leave off the pirate hat if you wanted to. The kit is also nice in that it comes with a rather substantial bit of scenery, a partial doorway that the figure is standing in. Most kits just come with a base representing a small patch of ground, so this is quite a bit more than that. While my initial vision for my version of the piece has him in another setting, I will certainly hang on to the scenery pieces and make use of them in some other project down the line.
This should be a fun kit to build and paint. Thank you again, iModeler!
