Simply amazing detail work...each and every one a "winner" in my book.
"Marion Carl's Wildcat," an historical joke only exceeded by "Lulubelle, Pappy Boyington's Corsair."
In fact, "white 2" was a hangar queen on Espiritu Santo being stripped for parts when Marion Carl, back from VMF-221's tour on Guardalcanal, was told he was going to meet the press for a photo shoot. He and a crew chief quickly slapped 16 Japanese flag stickers on the airplane, and he sat on it while the press took pictures of him with "his" airplane. (Story told to me by MGEN Carl at the 1992 AFAA convention in San Diego) No Marine in the Solomons had "their" airplane through the whole campaign.
Very nice work on all of these, including "Marion Carl's Wildcat." As said before, glad I didn't have to be a judge at this show.
Actually it would been great if we had you on board Tom. That amazing amount of information you have would have been really useful.
What absolutely fabulous models. Painting & weathering skills are amazing. I agree with Tom; I wouldn't want to be a judge!
