Tamiya Fiat 500 1/24

September 10, 2019 · in Automotive · · 12 · 2.4K

The Fiat "Cinquecento" (Italian for five hundred) is the iconic people's car of Italy during the 50's, 60's and 70's. It is to Italy what the Beetle is to Germany and the Mini to England. Like those classics, you still see them on the streets of their homeland. And like both of them, the reboot is pretty cool too.

To celebrate my wife's Italian heritage, I built this back in 2016 and gave it to her as an anniversary present. (I think she was hoping for a real one.)

Now I have to build a Vespa.

Body painted with Testors rattle can. Details brush painted.

  2. The first car I recall was the cinquecento my father had around the early 70s, similar to the one Michel photographed.
    Your kit looks excellent Aldo

  3. Very nice! I do prefer the German lines of the Bug over the Fiat, but they are definitely stable mates.

  4. Brillant modelling, Aldo. And you picked my favorite cinquecento colour!

  5. Great thing about car models - the colour is up to you! Thanks man.

  6. Hello Aldo,
    Nice and refreshing model.

  7. Very nice. I owned a couple Fiat 600s back in high school years. While hiking the Dolomites in 2017 I stayed at a hotel in Covara, Italty. The owner was a Fiat 500 fan. Here are photos of his daily driver (Lucifero) and an Abarth 595 stored in his basement.
