KV-2 PST 1:72

October 28, 2019 · in Armor · · 6 · 2K

Here's my recently finished PST 1:72 KV-2 Dreadnought tank. On this model I replaced the injection moulded handles with brass wire, I drilled the front hatch open and scratch build a new one, and added an antenna from steel wire. The tracks are resin from OKB Grigorov which add a lot to the overall appearance.
Weathering was done using an enamel black brown wash and Tamiya 'Mud' weathering pigments. I just need to find a good 1:72 Russian tanker in a 1941-1942 uniform to add, if anyone has a suggestion, just let me know.

Hope you like it.

Peter

  1. Nice Klim, even more considering the scale

  2. Very good tank model!
Also the setting is a hit , with the fragility of wood, grass and flowers contrasting the brutality of metallic weaponry, that is well represented by the KV-2.

  3. Great job! Looks fantastic.

  4. Really well done, and as Peter mentioned set off nicely by the base. Were the resin tracks individual links?

    • Hi Mike,

They come as sections of 9 cm, but are so thin they can be bend relatively easy (with care!). For the sag I stuck pieces of sprue between the fender and the track and then heated very briefly with hot water.

They have amazing detail, much more then could be achieved with injection moulding.

  5. Really nice, especially in 1/72.
