CH-46E “1-2 Lady Ace” As flown in Iraq and Pakistan in 2010

February 1, 2020 · in Aviation · 12 · 1.8K

This is a very special build that I did for Marine Col. Todd Oneto (hence the number "1-2" on the aircraft).

I built this from an Academy kit in 1/48 scale with many scratch built additions, as well as custom markings.

This model was done as his retirement gift after serving 28 years in the Marine Corps.

This build took about 100 hours.

The Academy kit has had pretty good reviews on-line but I found many mistakes, fit issues and detail omissions, but it captures enough of what I needed as a base to start from.

I enjoy being challenged, and this one certainly fit the bill! I use my own weathering techniques and Tamiya paints.

I hope you enjoy my first post, I have many more to come!

    • Thank you Tom! I work very hard on my models and I never use aftermarket details, choosing to scratch build my details, I think it’s much more fun that way ?
