Airfix 1/72 Tomahawk IIb – Quick Build Experiment
Hi There,
Whilst working at my usual glacial pace on another build I decided on Monday to see how quickly I could complete a kit using enamels.
This is the result. I have just spent the last two hours trying for the life of me to get the aerial wires on but they refused to stick and if I kept going I would completely ruin the kit.
Short story... No wiring.
Built oob
Painted with Colourcoats Dark Earth, Middle Stone and Azure Blue. Incidentally the first use of the Azure Blue and Middle Stone exactly a year after purchase in Perth.
Finished with W&N Galeria Matt Varnish.
A fun experiment but not one I plan to repeat. There a couple of blemishes that were caused by my haste and i wouldn't want to do that again.
Looks great, Alistair!
Thanks very much

Alistair
Nicely done! Good looking paint scheme.
Thanks so much

Alistair
I have used micro-dots of thin super glue to attach all my wires to models with never a problem. The wire's can be human hair, 0.10" dia white styrene and/or brass wire. The glue works on anything. Rodney
Hi There,
I tried with CA for two hours and it just didn't want to hold. Don't know if the CA had gone off or it was just me, but, Hey-Ho.
Cheers,
Alistair
Nice work! It’s nice to get some quick projects done.
Thanks very much
Well done Alistair, especially for a quickie.
Thank-you for your kind words
Looks good. Building fast is definitely NOT my forte!
Hi There,
I tried it as an experiment. Won't be happening again any time soon.
Thanks,
Alistair
Looks good, Alistair! Like a previous comment suggested, try some very thin brass wire for the aerial. Then just use a stronger-bond white glue (Elmer's Craft Bond Tacky Glue, Aleene's Tacky Glue) to attach it to the model. Cheers!
Hi There,
Thanks for that. I will give it a try
Cheers,
Alistair
Beautiful build! May i ask, were the colors paintbrushed?
Many thanks.
The colours were all airbrushed.
Cheers,
Alistair
