Boeing F/A-18C HORNET VFA-192 "Golden Dragons" 1/72

April 13, 2020 · in Aviation · · 8 · 2.1K

Hello to all,
This is my second airbrushed model. This time I tried to do some weathering, panel lines etc...Maybe it is too much weathered for my taste, but It was too late when I realized. But hey...I learn as I go.
The kit was from Academy in scale. It went along very nice, lots of armament provided and nice surface detailing for 1/72 scale. The only issue I had is with, as I later find out - notorious Academy decals. They were just too thick, and Mr. Mark Setter and Softer couldn't do much to them.

That's all for now,
Cheers,
DuĊĦan

  1. A great job! I've had problems with Academy decals myself.

  2. This looks really good. Since this is only your second time airbrushing, tell me what brand airbrush are you using? It sounds like Academy decals are a PITA for everyone, myself included. The weathering looks good. I would like to see some images of the underside.

    • Thanks David, I'm using some Chinese Airbrush with 0.2mm needle (Fengda bd-203). I think it is a clone of some of Iawata models but not sure.
      Here are some underside images.

  3. That's a great job, Dusan! Perfect weathering too. No, I don't think you overdid the weathering; F-18's are as matt as they can get, they operate in harsh and salty conditions and, despite the maintenance crews elaborate care, they do show respectable signs of weathering. So your model depicts this situation.
    Excellent airbrush results!
    All the best!

  4. It looks great to me, I think you did an excellent job.
