Easy Eight in 48

April 10, 2020 · in Armor · 9 · 1.8K

Another 1:48 beauty from Tamiya that went together flawlessly. I started this kit intending to do it OOB. But every picture shows them loaded up to some extent. I added aftermarket gas cans, stowage and ropes. The weathering process was the most enjoyable part. I used dirt pigments and rush washes on the tracks. I used AK and Vallejo effects liquids and I used AK weathering pencils extensively on the body and running gear. The pencils have become my favorite weathering tool. They are very flexible--I used them for rust, dust, dirt, wear, chipping and colored some of the stowage pieces--and easy to manipulate and blend. They dry dead flat, but are not as hard as acrylics and enamels.

Great work! I’m a fan of these 48 Tamiya kits, too, especially the Shermans

  2. Lovely work Dennis. I really like the patina you got on the turret roof.

  3. Absolutely beautiful work there, great painting and weathering to give it an excellent realistic finish. Very impressive.

  4. Fantastic work, Dennis! . Looks 1:1.
    All the best!

  5. A real beauty - just the right amount of weathering for my taste!

  6. Fabulous attention to detail, especially for the scale. That’s a Goldilocks build right there.
