Tamiya 1/48 P-47D

April 12, 2020 · in Aviation · · 8 · 1.6K

Here's my . Vallejo Metal Color (Aluminum) was used. After the decals were added, I sealed everything with a semi-gloss coat. Graphite pencil was used in the panel lines, then scrubbed with a stiff brush in order to work in some tone into the surrounding paint. I also used some pastels and Tamiya weathering kits on a number of places. Silver pencil was used for a bit of chipping on the olive drab panel as well as the prop. Finally, a dark gray wash was sparingly used in specific locations (landing gear, gear doors and wells, and a few spots where there are hinges, flaps, etc.).

Hope you like it!

  1. Looks extremely well done, Mike. I like the weathering. I find it more challenging to weather NMF planes.
