Vosper MTB Airfix 1/72

April 10, 2020 · in Ships · · 7 · 2.8K

Another very old offering from ,but don't be misled by the vintage, this old girl has a high parts count and a lot of detail also the painting is a little complex due the deck being a different colour to the various boxes and fittings, some things like the torpedo tubes and the Oerlikon can be built and painted and put to one side but lots of the other items have to be painted in situ and so much time has to be taken.

This was the first time I tried Eezee line for the rigging I usually use thin fishing line, and while it was indeed eezee to use and probably more to scale it is actually quite difficult to see in subdued lighting . I really like the figures that come with the kit that allow you to show the ship in something like an action pose although the two side gunners did have to have some pretty radical surgery to make them fit,I had to remove there feet !,I also have the RAF rescue launch on this site and the figures with that kit are equally detailed.

Hope you like her ,please feel free to comment.

Neil.

  1. Looks great Neil. With the flags outstretched like that you can almost hear the engines humming.
I like the look of the corrosion...there probably would have been much in the environment they operated in!

  2. Thanks for looking Phil , I kept the hull clean as they were constructed from wood.Glad you liked her, I've never seen another one of these built up.

  6. Very nice! This brought back memories of the Revell version that I did when young.
