1/48 ICM P-51D Mustang
Just finished this up this morning and thought I’d take some pics and share. It’s an old kit I had in the stache for some time. I noticed the plastic was warped and the decals were not usable so I decided to have some fun and do a custom paint job incorporating my daughters initials, nickname and birthdate. All the markings were airbrushed with masks I made and designed in Illustrator. It’s far from perfect with a lot of flaws that really show because of the NMF. Also the weathering really dulled the shine of the metallic paint. I heard this kit is a copy of the Tamiya’s P-51 but it definitely did not fit like one. Had a lot of problems with fuselage seems on the bottom and the windscreen and canopy did not fit well. Anyways I had a lot fun making it and maybe my 4 year old daughter will appreciate later in life. Haha
Painted with Alclad and Tamiya Paints, and weathered with Oils and pastels. No clear coats were used since there were no decals. Also it was the first time I tried airbrushing the exhaust stains and doing a little post shading.

Hi Jeremy!
Well, the fit might not be like a Tamiya, but the end result is like an excellently built Tamiya!
Well done, my friend! As per Erik’s words above, it was a treat to follow your build.
Kudos for the creative markings!
