Kitty Hawk UH-1H Huey
Hello iModeler! This is my Kitty Hawk Huey kit finished as a Vietnam War era aircraft using Werner's Wings decals. Typical Kitty hawk kit with typical Kitty Hawk issues, but it is still the BEST Huey kit in this scale by far, and I would not mind building one again. Disclaimer, I did the CAD work for the rotor head correction also available from Werner's Wings ( the kit parts are backwards) and I used a prototype test print on my build.
Still also trying to improve my digital photography and still welcoming any advice or constructive critique over my work. Cheers!

This Huey looks amazing, Ramon, both inside and out.
Love he weathering.
By the way, I am no expert, but your pics look very good!
I wouldn't object if you took more of them, also from a slightly higher point, let's say 30 degrees or so, together with your existing ones.
Happy New year!

Thanks Spiros! When the weather improves, I may take more pics outdoors, then I will take more close ups and high shots.

Nicely done Ramon, she looks the part. Spent some time riding around in those birds, quite a work horse. Recommend the book 19 Minutes to Live by Lew Jennings if you want to learn about being a snake pilot in Vietnam.

Thanks Tom, I will keep an eye out for that book and give it a read!

I love it Ramon. Take it from someone who flew this aircraft for several years, it looks super! I have one of these in my stash, but did not know the rotor head was designed backwards. Thanks so much for the heads up.
Cheers,
Scott

Thanks Scott! Of course I am biased, but Werner's Wings has you covered for the corrections needed to depict a more accurate Huey as you remember.

Ramon,
I havenāt been on the message string much lately, but This chopper is worth comments. IāVe never build a help, but If I do Iāll start with a Huey and yours is great reference subject. Itās a work of art in my mind.
How did you do the green glass parts? They look awesome. Keep building.

Thanks for the kind words Matt! This is the best kit of a huey in this scale by a large margin, but having said that there are still some booby traps throughout the build. I worked with Werner's Wings to address some of those, the most obvious being the backwards scissors links on the rotor head. If you do decide to build this kit as your first helicopter you will be pleased with the result either way. Can't wait to see your finished model!
Ps for the green tint of the windows, i just airbrushed light coats of Tamiya clear green on the inside until i was satisfied with the coverage. Easy peasy!šš
