Fokker Dr. 1 – Lothar von Richthofen
Fokker Dr. 1 (1/32 Meng) with the insignia of Lothar von Richthofen (brother of Manfred). Red cowling, struts, undercarriage legs and wheel disks represented attachment to Jasta 11. Yellow tail was Lothar's personal touch. Contrary to common opinion top wing was not painted yellow (Windsock Vol. 8, No. 6, Dec 1992 via David Calhoun). For the streaking camouflage I used the Aviattic’s decal

This is a great looking Dr.I, Carlo.
The display is also nice and makes it a beautiful combination.

Definitely liked, Carlo, a really striking colour scheme sets it off brilliantly, and the base complements it very well. Meng seem to have a strange strategy, their recent releases include this 1/32 aircraft, a 1/12 scale Ford GT40 and 1/9 scale Yamaha motorcycle, can't help wondering what's next.

What a nice piece of eye candy! Very striking scheme. I have yet to build a kit from Meng but this makes me think I should. Beautiful work Carlo!

Great build Carlo (@carlofar206).
I have just started a wip blog (https://imodeler.com/groups/work-in-progress-aircraft/forum/topic/meng-fokker-dr-i-1-32/?_wpnonce=070e1b208d#post-41445) for this kit. I'm leaning towards building Lothar's aircraft too, and your build certainly shows to great effect how colourful it was.
You mentioned the Windsock book and I've just looked it up online. What information does it contain on Lothar's aircraft? I'm not a WWI enthusiast and don't have any references in my library, so anything you might be able to point me to would be great. So far I've only found photos of this aircraft post-crash online.
How were the Aviattic decals to work with?
Also, any tips on what to watch for in the build would be great.
I love your build.
