TAMIYA 1/24th TOYOTA SUPRA
SO, while i'm out of action with a busted right shoulder rotator cuff, (yes, i'm right handed) i thought i'd post this model that my 15 year old son originally started, and butchered, of the iconic Toyota Supra.
He originally hand painted this in a "blueish" colour which looked horrendous. So after a good soak in Mr Muscle, it was painted red via a rattle can ( i didn't have an airbrush at the time)
The interior was, well, a mess. So that had the same treatment and was sprayed matt black.
I had a little fun with the engine, and was going to add some wiring and hoses, but i was told not to bother.
Model was built up and i thought the "rescue" came out well, but next came the words..."Dad, can you make it look like something from "The Fast & The Furious" films, coz them cars are ace?"
So the bonnet (hood to my American friends) was also painted matt black (this time blackboard paint as my acrylic matt black had run out), i raided my stash and found some left over decals from a Le Mans car that has long seen the trash bag).
Everything was the given a coat of gloss, except the hood, and i called it finished.
My sons happy with it, but i should have added the engine hoses and a touch of panel line accent.
What do you guys think?
I think it looks great, my friend Tony!
Good save, great result!
Not into cars but I say it's a great rescue. She looks good in arrest me red.
Great model. And engine compartment shrieks realism. Neat.
A great restoration, nicely done!
I like it too, and that engine compartment already has a LOT of detail!
