13 - Academy 1/48 AH-61D Longbow Apache

November 15, 2021 · in Aviation · · 10 · 1.6K

This kit was a real love/hate situation.
I love the and really wanted to extend myself and try new things and put a lot of effort into finishing it off well. The hate part comes around in the bad fit and engineering of this kit.

Very tough getting it together, and lots of tiny parts to make something like the rear rotor arm and bad instructions on how to fit it.

In the end I really love how it came out. I wanted to so something different to the Green scheme so I decided on an one to go with the Hughes 500d I did. I didn't have decals so painted on the yellow V and made a mask of the Israeli star.

Ended up being a build I'm very proud of and a build I've learnt a ton from.

The Apache looks great and has beautiful details, especially the IP.

    • Hi John, thanks a lot, are you speaking from experience with this kit? I'm trying to focus on the details on my builds not to give them a more personal aspect so I appreciate you noticing. What is the IP?

  3. Excellent result out of this challenging kit, Anthony!
    Love the Israeli scheme!

  4. Great work! The scheme is eye catching.

  5. Looks fantastic - my 2 cents is you can't go wrong with a desert scheme on almost anything!
