1/48 Gazelle Helicopter

August 8, 2022 · in Aviation · · 8 · 1.1K

My helicopter - I cannot remember which manufacturer the kit was.

I have done it with the White Crosses used by the Commonwealth Monitoring Force during the late 1979 - early 1980 ceasefire in Zimbabwe Rhodesia.

Paints used are Vallejo model colours and brush painted on.

Decals are all home made.

The British Army Air Corps No 656 Sqn flew these then. Prior to the Gazelles they had some Westland Scouts for ceasefire duties.

  1. Beautiful result, Phillip! Chances for it being the Heller mold?

  2. Nicely done! Superb work on the color scheme.

  3. Looks great, I like the base and surround as well.

    • The base was made on the back of an old picture frame. Fish tank sand was white glued to the base then sprayed different brown and sand colours. The woodland scenics grass flock was glued in some places as well as some woodland scenics bush flock.

  4. Great looking, Phillip @phillipe50
    Very nice home made decals.

  5. Nice build and interesting topic

  6. Great looking helo, Phillip (@phillipe50). Really nice finish on this helo, and homemade decals are really cool.
