AMT Boeing B 52 conversion
I bought several of the AMT kits when they were released, they molded an early G, but not an early H. I decided to convert a late H to early, not so hard to do, slight remodelling of the nose and removal of ecm bumps here and there. The wings had to be drooped which I managed but they still don't quite look right. Then disaster, 4 engines were lost over time, I didn't cement them in place! Answer, convert it to a G model! I had spare engines for that. The kits biggest problem is the narrow rear fuselage which is probably beyond my abilities to correct, others might find it easy. Sure, there are markings which I need to get round to changing. Kudos to Italeri, who gave additional details on probes and aerials, and a better decal sheet. I guess my models look like toys rather than a weathered replica, but I don't mind, I like toys!
It looks great, Mervyn. 90%of the time, less is more when it comes to weathering in my opinion.
I must admit, I prefer the museum exhibit look
That monster looks great, Mervyn. I agree with John's weathering remark. For me a lot of the times what I try to do is more accenting than weathering.
For sure, the panel lines might benefit.
That’s a monster, Melvyn, must be tricky to move around, looks good though.
My B 52s have special shelves George, they are a bit risky to move, I'm clumsy
"We'll meet again don't know where don't know when..." It's the fluoridation of the water" Sorry but every time I see B-52 in aluminum finish scheme I think of Dr. Strangelove. Awesome BUFF!
I took a good look at that movie Robert.
Fine-looking Buff!
The Buff is an icon Greg, the G is the same age as me!
Great result, Mervyn @frank1957
This is really a huge model.
I am often tempted by the Sanger 1/48 G model ! It doesn't break the bank.
A wonderful result, Mervyn! Your models definitely do not look like toys: as a matter of fact, they look amazing!
Well done!
A superb Buff!
Thanks Spiros, too kind.
Good work and a nice result!
Great build and finish, Mervyn! Not toylike at all IMHO.
Nice and clean Mervyn, the way I like them.
