M3A1 Stuart "Honey", 7th Armored Division, Libia, 1941
This is the 1/35 Academy M3A1 Stuart "Honey" in the correct 'Caunter' scheme (not the incorrect 'blue' scheme that Academy showed). Custom mixed Tamiya acrylics using Mike Starmer's formulas, RAC insignia painted, kit unit decals.
Lots of small details added, all tie downs replaced with brass wire, latches and hinges added to stowage boxes, rack for water cans scratch built, etc.
Last two photos are with Dragons Valentine tank, another Desert warrior.
Thanks for looking,
Colin
Colin Latta (@tail-dragon),
To my eyes this build represents the "Gold standard". Some strong work in painting, adding subtle shades , weathering and dust. It would look fantastic in a desert dio. Putting the kit in a setting that would allow the kit to suspend that moment of "disbelief" could easily given with this build.

An absolute beautiful result, Colin @tail-dragon
All the extras you performed are a clear improvement. The camouflage is very nicely done.
Really nice work, Colin. You've done an excellent job adding details and painting that challenging scheme in getting its lines straight across multiple surface changes. Your work on the VM/DML Valentine is also amazing, considering the parts you had to start with! Congratulations!
Really really really nice work, Colin. All boxs checked: excellent assembly and detailing, superb paintwork, perfect weathering. It doesn't get better than this.
Thanks very much, high praise indeed from the Master!
Amazing result, Colin!
Great work on this! A++ in all categories!
Well done, Colin!
Yes, she's a honey indeed. Cauntered (is that a verb?) and weathered perfectly. What strikes me seeing next to the Valentine, is the height of the M3. Use of an aircraft radial engine made them sit high. The M3 and M4 Mediums had the same issue.
To continue on the honey theme, she’s the “bees’ knees”. Excellent modelling.
Nice work, Colin. The paint and weathering are just right.
Sweet, Colin. Super well done. Congrats! "Liked!"
Thanks everyone for the kind comments!
Wow Colin, this is unbelievable work, such a brilliant build.
