1/32 Trumpeter P-47D-1 “In the Mood”

December 24, 2022 · in Aviation · · 20 · 0.8K

One more tick to my bucketlist.
This is 1/32 Trumpeter P-47D-1 with the markings of “In the Mood” flown by Captain Gerald W Johnson from 61st Fighter Squadron 56th Fighter Group based in Halesworth England during late 1943.
Cockpit modified by Yahu instrument panel and Eduard seatbelts. Additionnaly Trumpeter's late style rudder pedals replaced with MDC early ones.
For backdating to D-1, the cowling flaps changed by using plastic card.
I have used Eduard's Wheel set.
Belly tank is from my Tamiya spare parts.
Paints are Gunze Sangyo and Tamiya acrylics.
Decals are from Zotz Decal set.

Happy modelling
PS: I have more Razorback projects in 1/32. So If you think that the result is good enough to continue with this kit, please let me know.

    Tolga,

It pains me to say, that if you were not to do anymore P-47s on the board, we'd have a funeral procession. Crying, wailing, complaining and sniveling with modelers who want to see more of your work. Some folks have an addiction sad to say. You best, keep at it to keep the peace. Written, with tongue in cheek.

In all seriousness, some clear sharp photos taken with sun light. I always like to see a model that is photographed from the ground, it helps give a perspective of what the pilot or the ground crew would see and feel. The painting and weathering are spot on for being in the U.K. and Northern Europe.

    Two thumbs up.

    Happy Holidays.

  2. With these results, like always with your builds, I can only say, yes please more of these kits, Tolga @tolgaul

  5. A great build indeed! I think that the P-47 made the best nose art canvas.

  6. I always like your work. And the Trump 1/32 Razorback is the only one worth using. So you're stuck with it.

    Keep up the great work!

  7. Very good painting!

  11. As many as you like, Tolga, they are always popular models, especially the way you build them.

  12. A beauty as always! Keep 'em coming, and Happy New Year...
