M1A1 Abrams- Anniston Army Depot (1/72)
The idea for this project came to me while reading the new issue of the AK Wornart Collection.
Representing an M1 in this form seemed like a good idea to me;).
It is intended to represent a used M1 that is stored in the Army depot and awaiting for reconstruction.
I used Dragon's M1A1 (7215) for this project.
A somewhat older kit that has its advantages and disadvantages.
If it's cheap, it's still a good choice.
I also used some parts from the Part PE set (P72-125) and an Orange Hobby aluminum gun barrel G72-195).
Some of the PE parts for the storage baskets broke or were lost, that's why I depicted it with the jam storage bins dismantled.
The figure comes from Germania Miniaturen and is a 3d printed item.
I made the base and the tiles myself.
For the tiles, I used Ammo acrylic concrete paste to preserve the structure.
I then applied a thin coat of diluted AK foam sealer and sanded until bits of the paste came out.
That adjusted the grain of the surface a bit and then I painted and weathered everything.
I didn't quite get what I wanted with the painting on the tank itself, but it should be acceptable I think...hopefully...?
It is more than acceptable, Simon: it is excellent, the same being true for the rest of the diorama.
Well done!
This diorama looks excellent, Simon @s-nagorsnik
