B-29 1/48 scale full metal skin

November 21, 2023 · in Aviation · · 39 · 0.6K

Well after 275 hours of building this is complete, minus the livery which arrives soon.
Each individual panel is painstakingly done in .
This is my fourth all metal skin build, and by far my most ambitious! If I never see aluminum again I'll be happy.
Kit is the old monogram kit, built on commission for a private client. Metallic details resin engines replace the original ones from 1974.
I hope you enjoy my madness!

All the amount of work with the aluminum was definitely worth it.
I fully understand that you prefer to not see aluminum again.
    Well done.

  4. Looks pretty damn good without any markings. But it is commission work. Nice work!

  5. Amazing work Rick. You have convinced me to stick with Vallejo metal paint. 🙂

  6. That looks damn good. To undergo such masochism. But the result is worth it. Congratulations.

  7. Looks amazing. Excellent work. I started to foil the Williams Brothers 1/72 scale Gama and stopped because of getting frustrated with the compound curves of the wing filets. This makes me want to get back to it.

  8. @rickschad WOW! What aluminum did you use! Or was it paint? Thats a superb job!

  22. Wow I would be scared to tackle such a large build. You nailed it! I bet this takes up some serious shelf real estate.
