Airfix 1/72 Hawker Tempest MK.V Post War
I have to compliment Airfix on a beautifully engineered little kit.
It's been thought out and fits like a dream.
The undercarriage have big chunky attachment points that allow a solid fit but are hidden away.
Primed with Tamiya Neutral Grey.
Painted with:
Colourcoats Interior Grey Green and FAA/RAF Yellow.
Tamiya Rubber Black, Flat Aluminium, Nato Black, Clear Red and Clear Green.
HR Hobbies (Alclad) High Speed Silver and Xtreme Metals Aluminium.
Wash made from Windsor & Newton Burnt Umber/Sienna thinned with lighter fluid.
Light exhaust staining with AK Weathering Pencils.
Clear coated with Windsor & Newton Galeria Satin Varnish
This was a really great and fun build and I can heartily recommend it to anyone.
Thanks for looking,
Cheers,
Alistair
What an amazing build Alistair @alistairfgauld! I love the clean metal finish and the subtle panel lines.
This kit together with the new Mosquito and the Beaufort are what Airfix is all about. Pure fun.
Thanks so much,
I have a bit of a soft spot for Airfix as they were the only kits available where I grew up but the new tools they are bringing out are really good.
Nicely done, Alistair (@alistairfgauld). The metal finish is impressive. I love these newer kits from Airfix.
Thanks very much.
@alistairfgauld - excellent work on this little gem.
Many thanks.
It is a cracker of a kit.
Amazing job, Alistair! Easily passes for 1/48!
Thanks so much Spiros,
Too kind.
Excellently done, Alistair. I'm working on this kit too, and I agree - it's thoughtfully engineered, even cleverly in some places. Airfix are clearly listening to modelers as they produce these kits.
Many thanks,
They have designers who are modellers now and are giving thought to how they would like to build it.
It's making a big difference.
Nice Tempest, Alistair! Airfix has been my favorite model company for over 10 years now. It’s kind of cool because I loved Airfix as kid when I first started out a long time ago!
Thanks very much.
I adored Airfix kits and soldierswhen I was young and despite their reputation hold a special place in my heart.
A reputation which is now becoming undeserved.
Well done Alistair, at first look I thought it was 1/48.
Many Thanks
Excellent result, Alistair @alistairfgauld
Not only the good engineering of Airfix but dut definitely your modelling skills resulted in a very nice Tempest.
Thanks very much that is very kind.
Hats🎩 off to you Alistair Super build 👍
Many Thanks
Nice results, Alistar.
Thanks so much
That’s great, Alastair, three cheers for Airfix for making such a good kit, and an extra cheer for you for making such a good job of it.
Thanks very much
Very nice look!
Thank you so much
Looks great!
Many thanks
Tell me Did You enjoy paiting High Speed Silver from Alcad?
It sprays really well but as it is a paint rather than a metallic it goes down well and is a lot less fragile.
