Spitfire Mk. Vc: Airfix 1/72
My version of ES352 of No. 43 Squadron, based in Italy in 1943. The kit is the relatively new one from Airfix, purchased a year ago during a trip to Hendon, and built pretty much completely out-of-the-box.
It fell together easily enough - a relief after getting snarled up on projects that have taken way too long. Self-made problems came with trying to build an RAF plane; I sourced decals from Kitsworld, but these were ridiculously thick (despite scalding water) and came in cartoonish colours with a black outline around the roundels. They were stripped and replaced with Eduard, which went down perfectly - including the removable carrier film.
Mission Model Paints provided the the Dark Stone, Middle Earth and Azure livery, which - along with the Vokes filter - is a lovely combination.
A fun build, and I hope you enjoy the photos as much as I had taking them. Thanks for looking!
Beautiful paint job! Hard to believe this is 1/72 - it looks 1/48. A great result.
Fantastic result, Tim!
Nice work, Tim. Great paintwork.
Really great result on this little Spitfire, Tim @timtozer231
The paintwork and weathering is very nice.
A fantastic build - funnily enough i ordered this kit just this week in order to have it built with the undercarriage raised up, just like you did! The Vc looks better in flight with that ugly Volkes filter. The weathering is amazing, love it.
You'll enjoy the build, Felix. I look forward to seeing your results!
Another great build of a 1/72 Airfix kit that could easily pass as being of a larger scale. Long live Airfix.
Great build Tim. And I think the Spitfire in that colour scheme looks wonderful. Nice one 👍
Thanks, everyone. Really appreciate the supportive comments!
Great header photo showing some strong work in the painting dept . The inflight photos really do bring out the best in this kit which is nothing short of superb.
Two thumbs up.
Well done, Tim (@timtozer231). I really like the British desert camo, and yours is perfect.
Beautifully done - love the paint and weathering work. One of the better Spits I've seen lately (in any scale)!
