Reminder: Korean War group Build is about to end.

June 30, 2023 · in News · · 5 · 252

The anniversary date for the "Cease Fire" on July 27th, 1953 is quickly coming up.

Since we recently started the Jim Sullivan memorial group build, I mentioned that I would make some minor changes to the Korean War group. Here they are.
  1. No new entries will be permitted after the cease fire date, on July 27th, 2023. So if you have a build you want to add to this group, now is the time to do so.

  2. Shortly after July 27th, I will be posting a recap of all the completed builds so far. As models are finished, I will add them to the original article.

  3. Existing builds will be allowed to carry on until completion, providing the original poster has a desire to do it.

These changes will be allowed to help those who still want to honor the men and women who sacrificed during the Forgotten War.

This will also allow us to build models that honor Jim Sullivan too.

I want to thank everyone for their support of both groups. They have been very successful, and turned out better than I ever imagined they would.

Thanks again !

  1. You did include my Sabre I just did, yes? We had NO SABRES THERE! I was really amazed when I discovered that/

I will when I actually compose the article. Did you ever finish up the other Sabre you started yet ? The one boxed up as a F-86 F-15 with decals for "The Huff" ?

As far as yours being the only Sabre, there was another one started by Colin Gomez. Sadly it was never finished. Here is a link to his build journal. He was doing a GREAT job with his. I was blown away by the work he did in the cockpit. Incredible is the first word that comes to mind.

I have two of the Academy F-86 kits in the stash, and a set of decals to do one of the Saber's flown by Col. Ralph Parr, and the other one as "Paper Tiger". I might actually start a build journal for it before the ending deadline, but chances are good I will not be able to finish it up in time.

I will be adding planes to the "completed" article showing the recap of the group build.

      Thanks for participating.

  2. Thanks for this reminder, Louis! Amazing that three years have already passed since the creation of this GB!

It's crazy to see just how fast the time has flown by. Incredible for us, but chances are it didn't go by nearly as fast for those who were there during the War.

  3. Looking forward to the recap @lgardner!
