A Japanese submarine
By TAMIYA, 1/350 scale. This was the sub that carried four aircraft in the hanger under the conning tower. I chose to not use them. This submarine was to attack the Panama Canal with her aircraft and possibly bomb installations on the west coast of the United States, but Japan saw that the war was coming to an end and that they were fighting a losing battle, so to speak. So, the submarines of this type were never put into use as intended. The plane would come out of the hangar and launch from that long catapult on deck. Then a crane would pick them out of the water. This was Japans largest submarine. As a kit by Tamiya it went together pretty well, but I have seen better kits by them.

Indeed a very interesting submarine. Submarines as models are not "sexy'. So it is always good to see completed models on this site.
