Supermarine Spitfire Mk.Ia
AirFix 1:72 scale model that went together well. The Spitfire gained immortality during the Battle of Britain in the summer and into the fall of 1940. The main role was to intercept and destroy the Luftwaffe's fighters while the Hurricanes of the RAF attacked the incoming bombers. If I had it to do over again I would have bought the small bottle of tan paint for the camo instead of the light brown. According to photos it is too dark but so be it. Perhaps some had a darker camo pattern? The main scheme is olive green. The decals went on well. This is a 6”x 5” aircraft. I used Tamiya extra thin cement. I am basically pleased with it as this is my first attempt at painting a camouflage pattern on an aircraft.
Very nice work on this early Spitfire, Emmet @bmolloy
Thanks
Looks good to me Emmet. DE and DG both varied a bit. I’m a fan of Humbrol #29for the DE.
Yep, that Spit looks great and i agree with John @j-healy, Humbrol 29 is nice. Also dark earth from AK interactive is very beautiful (nicer than the one from Ammo Mig imho).
Thank you
Thanks
This is a really fine looking Spotfire, Emmet! Well done!
