Arado Ar 68F
Here's my recently completed Roden Ar 68F in 1:48. A very nice kit compared to my Classic Airframes Ar 68E from back in 2010! I added Eduard steel seat belts, individual instrument decals to the panel, replaced the plastic exhaust stubs with aluminum tubing, added nav lights, found some flat wire for rigging, added the pitot tube, and got the prop to spin. I found a bottle of useable MM RLM 63 Lichtgrau, the blue is hand mixed Tamiya. The kit decals were a mess, the crosses and swastikas are from my decal dungeon. The Ar 68 was the last biplane fighter produced for the Luftwaffe, and was basically obsolete soon after it entered service. Others on this site have detailed the history of this aircraft. I finished it in the colors of 3/JG 135 operating from Bad Aibling, Germany in 1937 because I liked the more colorful scheme than the later 70/71/65 finish.
Nice work. Very clean build. Enjoy the photos as well.
Thanks, Matt!
Very nice work and very interesting colour scheme.
Thank you, Christopher.
Beautifully done, Chas @chasbunch
A very nice scheme indeed, glad you still had some spare decals available.
Thanks, John.
G'day Chas (@chasbunch),
This is a colourful bird.
It is just outside my preferred time period (WWII), but I'd like to build a few of the colourful pre war Luftwaffe (and other airforce) aircraft one day.
An inspiring build.
Awesome box ticked.
Thanks, Michael.
Beautifully done, paint looks great. The Arado looks more in the Pitts special arena than a fighter.
Thanks, Bill. One of the schemes for this kit was all red, perhaps a demo machine flown by Udet.
Excellent result, Chas! A most charming camo scheme, which you replicated perfectly!
Congratulations!
Thank you, Spiros.
Nicely done, Chas. And the in-flight photo...cool.
Thanks, Bob.
This is an excellent kit - definitely the most accurate Ar-68F. You've definitely gotten the most from the kit with this model, Chas. I like this a lot.
Thanks, Tom. Yup, this is a great kit, light years ahead of the CA version, makes it look kind of clunky!
Great looking build.
Thanks, John.
Love these pre-war colours
Thanks, George. I also love pre-war birds.
Very nice. Great job!
Thank you, Gary.
Looks great, the colour scheme is very neatly applied.
Thanks, George. It was really a very simple and easy paint scheme.
Very nicely and cleanly built. I like it very much.
