Kawasaki ZZR 1400
Another Tamiya 1/12th scale motorcycle, the Kawasaki ZZR1400. Brought to you by Cricket AKA @Bikequeen : )
I have always contended there is no black and white but a million shades of grey and to me, this bike is a study in black and grey.
This bike is also a personal best for me, out of the box and on display in 3 days.
I dont like the stand, it looks cheap and some day I will make a better one.
I am starting to really like the Kawasaki styling. They are attractive and look BAD A$$ 🙂
(Outside shots courtesy of a gorgeous autumn day here at the secret Bat Cave somewhere is western Tennessee 🙂 )
I stole the following data from Tamiya's instructions …..
Kawasaki is one of the top motorcycle manufacturers in the world and has a history of producing large displacement machines that are often the fastest in their class.
To continue this fine heritage, Kawasaki released the ZZR1400 in 2006. Its 1,352cc liquid-cooled DOHC inline 4-cylinder engine, the largest displacement engine installed by Kawasaki in its production bikes to date, can pump out 190hp standard and up to 200hp with ram air effect for exhilarating acceleration performance.
In addition, this engine is tuned for more low-end torque and is equipped with dual counter balancer shafts to reduce vibration, resulting in a supersport bike that is also quite capable at high-speed everyday cruising.
This power plant is matched with front and rear petal disc brakes with MotoGP-style radial-mounted four-piston calipers which provide excellent stopping power. The lightweight monocoque aluminum frame, which is evolved from the one used in the ZX-12R, not only enables efficient use of internal space, it also allows the body fairings to be tighter and smoother for enhanced aerodynamics.
Other unique body features include an aggressively-styled front fairing with ram air intake and an array of six headlights, integrated front and rear turn signals, and louver lines integrated into the side fairings that help draw in cool air for the radiator. This combination of breathtaking performance, solid stability, and distinctive styling all add up to make the ZZR1400 worthy of being labeled as Kawasaki's next-generation flagship supersport bike.
Thanks for viewing and as always you can view more on the Motorcycle group right here on iModeler ; )
What an immaculate paint job on a motorcycle with a really cool paint scheme, Cricket (@bikequeen). This has to be one of your best models, so far. It was fun to follow along on this one and I am looking forward to your next work of art. :o)
@gblair Thanks George! Yeah it was a fun build! I’m “jonesin” on my next build while plotting the Kawasaki Weathering project :). Our Fire Department is having a Halloween fundraiser so it’s been keeping me busy 😛
Another Gem, Cricket! Well done.
@gwskat Thanks Gary :). I’m proud of it
Another Cricket beauty. Us military stuff modelers aren't used to glossy metalflake paint and chrome, got to be a whole 'nother skill set.
@billkoppos Hi Bill and thanks! Just as I am not used to weathering and building aircraft, I see your work and it makes me wanna smash all mine ;). If I had to guess it’s a lot simpler to do shiny gloss than all the A/c weathering you guys do 🙂
Kawasakis are my favourite Japanese bikes, Cricket @bikeqyeen, and this one definitely looks the part, you got the paint scheme off perfectly, and she looks great in the autumn sunshine.
@chinesgeorge Thanks George :). I took all my bikes out today and shot pics. After I mulched up all the leaves ;). And I am really liking the Kawasaki bikes too!
So good, every build I/we can see the progression of your skills. Looking forward to the next...
@ij001. Thank you Ian. I amaze myself I truly enjoy building these bikes, after a whole bunch O years I finally found my niche ; )
Beautiful build Cricket. Batman’s super bike. You truly have the market cornered on motorcycles.
@coondog. Thanks Matt! I am having fun with them 🙂
Looks like the real deal to me, Cricket! Well done.
@j-healy Thanks John! I appreciate the comment 🙂
I'm speechless, Cricket @bikequeen
This bike really rocks, your absolutely got a perfect result in both, building quality and painting.
Love it.
@johnb Thanks John! I’m real happy with it 🙂
I honestly thought the first photo was a reference shot.
@atjoe Thanks Joe! I love photographing them as much if not more than building them ; )
Fantastic result, Cricket! Love the looks!
@fiveten thanks Spiros! 🙂
as all the others said, it is a great job, it looks real. At the right angle and the right background nobody would realize it is a model. Very good result!
@impisi Thank you Martin….I need to figure out how to do “platform” to set them on. The black plastic sheet is good but not good enpiugh ; )
Another Criqet masterclass in building realistic motorcycles faster than I can plan my next project.
I really think you need to go South down to Barber Motorsports Park and check out the motorcycle museum. I think you would get a kick out of it and you might spot something that would inspire another build.
@dion-dunn thanks Dion, I just cruised their site! That looks AWESOME
I never got a chance to race on that track and haven't been to the museum either, but it's on my bucket list one of these days.
An absolute beauty - I love all the shades of black Cricket @bikequeen. Amazing work as always.
@anthinyricco thanks Anthony I’m pleased with the results! The colors are perfect
Stunning, to say the least.
@jdtruby Thanks John 🙂
Just won this kit on a local auction site... will be my next MB build. Like the way this one came-out, definitely one of your very best.
Cheers from NZ.
Ian.
