Kawasaki ZZR 1400

October 22, 2023 · in Automotive · · 30 · 252

Another 1/12th scale , the ZZR1400. Brought to you by Cricket AKA @Bikequeen : )

I have always contended there is no black and white but a million shades of grey and to me, this bike is a study in black and grey.

I choose the “Matte Pearl Morion Black” color scheme using Tamiya's spray can colors of Gunmetal, Flat Black, Gloss Black, Semi Gloss Black and Metallic Black and of course the 1000 tiny chrome silver dots (give or take a hundred 🙂 ). I drilled out the rotors, i think that look better that way…Thanks George @chinesegeorge

This bike is also a personal best for me, out of the box and on display in 3 days.

The Kawasaki and the ZZR 1400 emblem gracing the sides are metal transfers which really stand out.

I dont like the stand, it looks cheap and some day I will make a better one.

I am starting to really like the Kawasaki styling. They are attractive and look BAD A$$ 🙂

(Outside shots courtesy of a gorgeous autumn day here at the secret Bat Cave somewhere is western Tennessee 🙂 )

I stole the following data from Tamiya's instructions …..

Kawasaki is one of the top motorcycle manufacturers in the world and has a history of producing large displacement machines that are often the fastest in their class.

To continue this fine heritage, Kawasaki released the ZZR1400 in 2006. Its 1,352cc liquid-cooled DOHC inline 4-cylinder engine, the largest displacement engine installed by Kawasaki in its production bikes to date, can pump out 190hp standard and up to 200hp with ram air effect for exhilarating acceleration performance.

In addition, this engine is tuned for more low-end torque and is equipped with dual counter balancer shafts to reduce vibration, resulting in a supersport bike that is also quite capable at high-speed everyday cruising.

This power plant is matched with front and rear petal disc brakes with MotoGP-style radial-mounted four-piston calipers which provide excellent stopping power. The lightweight monocoque aluminum frame, which is evolved from the one used in the ZX-12R, not only enables efficient use of internal space, it also allows the body fairings to be tighter and smoother for enhanced aerodynamics.

Other unique body features include an aggressively-styled front fairing with ram air intake and an array of six headlights, integrated front and rear turn signals, and louver lines integrated into the side fairings that help draw in cool air for the radiator. This combination of breathtaking performance, solid stability, and distinctive styling all add up to make the ZZR1400 worthy of being labeled as Kawasaki's next-generation flagship supersport bike.

Thanks for viewing and as always you can view more on the Motorcycle group right here on iModeler ; )

  1. What an immaculate paint job on a motorcycle with a really cool paint scheme, Cricket (@bikequeen). This has to be one of your best models, so far. It was fun to follow along on this one and I am looking forward to your next work of art. :o)

  2. @gblair Thanks George! Yeah it was a fun build! I’m “jonesin” on my next build while plotting the Kawasaki Weathering project :). Our Fire Department is having a Halloween fundraiser so it’s been keeping me busy 😛

  3. Another Gem, Cricket! Well done.

  4. @gwskat Thanks Gary :). I’m proud of it

  5. Another Cricket beauty. Us military stuff modelers aren't used to glossy metalflake paint and chrome, got to be a whole 'nother skill set.

  6. @billkoppos Hi Bill and thanks! Just as I am not used to weathering and building aircraft, I see your work and it makes me wanna smash all mine ;). If I had to guess it’s a lot simpler to do shiny gloss than all the A/c weathering you guys do 🙂

  7. Kawasakis are my favourite Japanese bikes, Cricket @bikeqyeen, and this one definitely looks the part, you got the paint scheme off perfectly, and she looks great in the autumn sunshine.

    • @chinesgeorge Thanks George :). I took all my bikes out today and shot pics. After I mulched up all the leaves ;). And I am really liking the Kawasaki bikes too!

  8. So good, every build I/we can see the progression of your skills. Looking forward to the next...

  9. Beautiful build Cricket. Batman’s super bike. You truly have the market cornered on motorcycles.

  10. Looks like the real deal to me, Cricket! Well done.

  11. I'm speechless, Cricket @bikequeen
This bike really rocks, your absolutely got a perfect result in both, building quality and painting.
    Love it.

  12. I honestly thought the first photo was a reference shot.

  13. Fantastic result, Cricket! Love the looks!

  14. as all the others said, it is a great job, it looks real. At the right angle and the right background nobody would realize it is a model. Very good result!

  15. Another Criqet masterclass in building realistic motorcycles faster than I can plan my next project.

I really think you need to go South down to Barber Motorsports Park and check out the motorcycle museum. I think you would get a kick out of it and you might spot something that would inspire another build.

  16. An absolute beauty - I love all the shades of black Cricket @bikequeen. Amazing work as always.

  17. Stunning, to say the least.

  18. Just won this kit on a local auction site... will be my next MB build. Like the way this one came-out, definitely one of your very best.

    Cheers from NZ.

    Ian.
