Albatros D.II, 1-48, Eduard, pilot Lt. Ludwig Hanstein, Jasta 35, 16 victories.
I'm more of a glue stick than a modeler, but you might like it anyway. Used Eduard turnbuckles, fishing line strings. Brushed Revell paint, HGW decal wood. Ludwig Hanstein about ten minutes after scoring his final victory on 21 March 1918, Hanstein was killed in action by Herbert Sellars and his aerial observer, Charles C. Robson. Sellars' combat report stated: "Making a sharp turn to the left, my observer fired at 75 yards on the nearest enemy aircraft which burst into flames and was seen to crash north of Morchies."
Beautiful work, especially for painted-by-hand, Milan. I really enjoy seeing the earlier WWI aircraft in addition to the more commonly seen late-war versions. I also like that you've brightened the exposure here compared to your other posting, as it makes the colors and details easier to appreciate. I looked up Lt. Ludwig Hanstein and read his interesting and ultimately tragic story. Congratulations on completing this excellent and inspiring build!
