IJN Destroyer IKAZUCHI 1942 (Yamashita Hobby, 1/700)

Let me post a work of Japanese ship. Her name is , which means simply "thunder" in a very traditional Japanese way. She was an , the 23rd of the Fubuki class destroyers. The kit was provided by , a maker specialised in Japanese destroyers. I wanted to try Yamashita hobby's kit and found it was a well designed one. I hope it is available outside Japan. I have a special attachment to this particular destroyer because of its heart warming story in the middle of the Pacific war. In short, the captain of Ikazuchi rescued many British crew after the battle of in 1942. I tried to recreate the day of this story.

  7. Thank you all for such encouraging comments. I will post more ships. Also since I joined this site, I have been inspired quite a lot about aeroplane models. I will try to post them, even though my aircraft models are even more amateur creations than my ship ones.

  10. Excellent model. 1/700 is too tiny for me for destroyers.
