Roland D VIa, Fly, 1:48, Ltn. Otto Kissenberth, Jasta 23b, 20 victories
I recently introduced Roland in the VIb version, so now I'm adding the VIa version. Similar construction to D VIb, only need to put a different engine and retrofit it a bit. Next, it is necessary to cut off the ailerons and install the correct ones and put different height rudders. Everything is part of the kit, so it only needs minor adjustments.
Otto Kisenberth took his victories to 20 and shot down his last victim using a captured British Sopwith Camel on 20 May 1918. Nine days later, a crash in flight with the Camel ended Kissenberth's fight. His injuries were severe enough that he was not returned to combat, instead being assigned to command the Schleissheim Air School. He was one of the few pilots who used prescription glasses in combat. Although Otto Kissenberth survived the war, he died soon after on August 2, 1919 in a climbing accident.
Nice work on this one just like the other one, Milan.
Thank you Tom.
Another excellent build, Milan @milantesar
The sign used by Otto is an Edelweiss if I'm correct.
Thanks for sharing the historical part.
Thanks John, yes it is an Edelweiss.
Very nice D VIa - loved them both! It might be interesting to do Otto's Camel.
Thanks Chas, I have the Otto Kisenberth marked Camel ready. I plan to build it in the future.
Another superb result, Milan! Great history, too!
Thank you Spiros.
Great Roland Milan, nice work as usual. I'm really a fan of the all wood fuselage German WW1 fighters like the Roland and Albatros. They really seamed ahead of there time.
Thank you Clint.
🙂 ... Greetings ... 🙂 :
A very elegant build Milan.
Good , clean and neat work.
Thank you, I try to be clean above all, but it doesn't always work out as expected.
Great job! Your skill make it look like 1/32.
Děkuji Gary.
You did a terrific job on this Roland (@milantesar).
Thank you John.
Another great Roland, Milan!
Thank you John.
Looks great - well done!
Thank you Greg.
