Tamiya 1966 Rusty 1300 Beetle 1/24

November 2, 2023 · in Automotive · · 13 · 317

This assembly was a lot of fun playing and experimenting with rust, the effects of the passage of time, recreating textures. The kit is quite easy to assemble (compared to others such as motorcycles), but I added some customizations such as low windows, some removed headbands, electrical wiring details in the engine and trunk, among others.

  1. Very nice, Emilio! Your added touches look great.

  2. That is so nice, and looks realistic, too Emilio! 👍 We can't see them, but I bet the floor-pans are rusted through as well! 😁 Ask me how I know... 😉

    • Thank you very much! Very kind words but I can't stop wondering...how do you know?

      • You are quite welcome, Emilio! Many years ago, I worked as a sheet metal mechanic/tinsmith for 13 years and several times over that period, I had to replace the rusted-out floor-pans of VW Beetles. It's almost as if they were designed to catch and collect any and all water that entered the car...😉 😁

  3. Excellent work, Emilio. Real, actual texture is not something I often think about when modeling. You've nailed it!

    • Brian, the first thing that brought me to this amazing hobby was a post of Amalgam Collection about a Ferrari 330 with weathering a racing effects and that image just connect with me. I'm working hard to reach those levels of realism and quality. i know it takes time and i am happy to share the progress.

  4. Very realistic, looks awesome Emilio!

  5. I'm liking that Bug! Great stuff.

  6. Great model of the iconic bug.

  7. Very, very nice. I owned a 1:1 1958; powder blue with yellow flames and wide rear tires in 1974

  8. Fantastic job, Emilio! Amazing weathering!

  9. Absolutely well done, Emilio @emilitogarcia
