1/72 CAC Avon SAbre conversion

January 8, 2024 · in Aviation · · 9 · 150

This is the Fujimi 1/72 Sabre F30 kit with the Tasman CAC Avon sabre conversion. This constitutes a rough & ready molded fuselage, nose intake & vac. canopy [Falcon-I think] and finally a set of decals. The conversion is OK but some caveats...The molded fuselgae will require LOTS of sanding smoothing [see pics]--I am still not satisfied with the results. Also the fit of the parts to the intended kit IS not great. You can use the Hobbycraft-Academy sabre 5 kit too maybe that one is better? The Fujimi kit interior parts dont fit well in the Tasman fuselage halves lots of feddling. If I had known this I would have just employed the CMK resin set for the Airfix kit-and make it fit! The decals are also rather transparent and on a continuous carrier film--not Cartograf quality at all ...which I didnt notice ..my bad. However it came out better than I thought it would if not completely satisfied... But nice to have a unique Sabre in my collection! Also the price for the conversion was very reasonable.. I did not mean to bash Tasman JUST want anyone to know what they are getting into if they were considering this conversion.

I am working through most if not all of the 1/72 F-86 kits [excluding SH F-86K & L since they are a bit dear in price right now]
